THE FOCUS OF OUR BOND ISSUE

In collaboration with the community, we’re focused on listening. First, our bond issue failed on June 2, 2020. Following the failure, we heard many people say, “We needed more information about the improvements.” Some people also said, “We don’t trust the district to follow-through since past projects weren’t completed well in the past.” We also heard some criticism of recent projects we were able to complete within the limits of our current budget. These projects were the playground and the new central office. We also heard some incorrect information and rumors. 

We’re listening and we created this site to be transparent, answer all questions, and collect any new questions. We heard our community when they said we needed more transparency. To us, your District, transparency means standing to account and always telling the truth. You’ll find answers to many questions under the FAQ section and What is a No Tax Increase Bond. You’ll also find sections about each project and videos. We hope this information is helpful. *The District is committed to continue listening to our community. 

This bond will address three main priorities to better our school district. There are other projects as well, but these are the top three and why we started this overall improvement project with feedback from the community. This project is the result of listening to our community, not just what the District wants. 

Priority number ONE...keeping our kids cool and warm throughout the year. Many residents do not realize our current HVAC system has shut down more than once, causing us to cancel school during the winter. The value to our community is better air filtration, at a lower cost, and a healthier community. Our school will not be a hotspot for disease pathogens. 

Further, replacing parts for our old system has been very expensive and a new system allows us to offer more competitive salaries to our educators and support staff. We want the best professionals working to support our kids. 

Priority number TWO...keeping our kids safe and secure throughout our building. The security issues that will be accomplished include two vestibules in the high school building to keep any outside visitors from entering without identifying themselves and receiving permission. These will be similar to the elementary school vestibule. We will also improve our camera and security system throughout the school, helping increase awareness and response in case of a threat. We will also improve lighting outside around the school property. Each outside entry door will have access control card readers, including our Vocational Ag building which for now has no secure access control. We will also install a deadbolt lock on every classroom door. Right now, these doors can easily be bypassed. The value to our community is to protect our kids from harm. 21st-century technology helps us communicate quickly and maintains a safe and secure environment to prevent tragic events in our school. We believe all kids deserve a safe environment that deters outside threats. 

Priority number THREE...is also about safety. Keeping our facilities safe for kids and up to date. We plan to update the electrical wires, conduit, and boxes in our AG greenhouse which are warped and separating from electrical boxes and change out old electrical boxes from 1956 portions in our high school because parts are difficult to find. The value to our community is to prevent fire and loss of people and valuable resources to educate our kids.
